Yesterday,
my voice of fear was far away.
Yesterday,
my voice of love led the way.

Today,
hate and violence come on strong.

Yesterday,
the war was right and left was wrong.
Yesterday,
Malcolm X was a nigger with horns.

Today, our leaders lied and we’re the fools.

It’s a repressive society,
no matter what they say to you or me.
In jails they’d put all their sons.
for refusing to go to war or to carry guns.
They murder babies, burn cities too,
just like Hitler did to Poles and Jews.
You can’t smoke this,
when they drink that.
Where is America really at?

Where is America’s Freedom?
Where is America’s Liberty?
Where is America’s Equality,
that Bob Hope preaches about?

Yesterday,
preach love and close our schools to blacks.
Yesterday,
my mind was surely made of wax.
Yesterday,
all injuns wore war paint.
Yesterday,
the missionaries were all saints.

Today,
we stole red land away.
(Good Christians cheated too.)

It’s a repressive society,
no matter what they say to you or me.
In jails they’d put all the blacks
for refusing to wait for life and just sit in the back.
They beat students,
shoot coeds,
tear gas cities, too.
Just like madmen love to do.
They tell us this
when they do that.
Where is America really at?

Where is America’s Brotherhood?
Where is America’s Justice?
Where is America’s soul
that Thomas Jefferson wrote about?

Where is America’s Dignity?
Where is America’s Opportunity?
Where is America’s Diversity?
Where is America at?

Where is America’s so called Love ?
Where is America’s long dead Dove?
Where is America’s Heart?
Where is America at?
